Stretch Tent Daily Checks

Visual Check

A visual inspection of your stretch tent should be carried out daily. Walk around the tent and check if the ropes, shackles and pins appear to be in good working order. Pay attention to any wall fixings and see if any appear defected. Look at your poles and check they are straight.

Physical Check

Whilst looking at everything around your stretch tent, give your guy ropes a good pull to see if the tent is tight and tensioned. See if your poles or anchor points move at all.

Stretch Tent Fabric

Have a good look at the tent fabric itself for any signs of damage. If caught early, damage can be easily repaired with one of our repair kits which we can either post out to you or for more complex repairs we can arrange this with our repair centre on your behalf.

Adverse Weather Conditions

Heavy Rain & Water Pooling

Every effort has been made to ensure your tent sheds water correctly. However, over time stretch tents can suffer loss of tension which can lead to water pooling. If this happens, you can take the following steps...

Small amounts of water can be removed by pushing the underneath of the tent (use a blunt long object like the bristle end of a broom).

Large amounts of water can be removed using a length of hosepipe. Simply place one end of the hose in the pool, weighted by with a small round object. Then at the other end of the hose, create suction which will syphon the water out.

Snow on your Stretch Tent

In the event of heavy snow, you must ensure large amount of snow do not sit atop the stretch tent for long periods of time which can bear alot of weight on the fabric. We advise removing settled snow at the earliest, safest opportunity.

Removing the snow from your stretch tent can be done by using a soft brush from underneath the stretch tent (similar process to pushing out water). You can also use heating to get rid of the snow but watch out for water pooling if you do this.

If you allow the snow to melt, inspect your tent for any signs of water pooling.

Strong Winds

In unusually high winds (above 60mph), we advise keeping a close eye on your stretch tent. Wind straps can be fitted to stretch tents, to provide extra security, or it may even be wise to de-rig the tent entirely, depending on the location and exposure of the site.

Carry out daily checks (as listed above) and please do not hesitate to get in touch with our team if you are unsure of how best to preserve your tent in extreme weather.

Stretch Tent Cleaning

General Cleaning

General cleaning can be carried out when your tent is erected. Spot marks can be removed with soap, warm water and a stiff brush. Household detergent can also be used however we advise a small area is tested by cleaning commences.

Do not use any cleaning products which contain bleach!

Power Washing

For larger areas of your stretch tent which require cleaning, you can use a domestic power washer though please exercise care and caution if opting for this method as high-pressure water can damage the stretch tent material.

Deep Cleaning

Your stretch tent may require a deep clean which can be done when your tent is on the ground. Deep cleaning a stretch tent is a large undertaking and we advise that this is carried out professionally.
