How can I get married if my venue doesn’t have a license?
Nowadays, there is a growing popularity in ‘celebrant-led’ weddings, which means that the ceremony isn’t necessarily legally binding but can be tailored to you and your other half and feel just as special and significant as a legally-binding ceremony. Opting for a celebrant-led wedding opens up a whole host of options, meaning you can choose to have your ceremony anywhere that you like – whether it’s the grounds of your chosen venue or a secluded woodland or area of garden within your family’s property.

What about the legal bit?
To get legally wed, you will need to contact your local council an enquire where your nearest registry offices are that offer statutory weddings. Certain offices offer statutory weddings on specific days of the week so it’s worth enquiring at more than one. A statutory wedding costs in the region of £40-50 and you will need two witnesses. Many couples opt to do this a few days before or after their big ceremony, where all their guests are in attendance.
